Friday Five: Love the One You're With

Over at the RevGalBlogPals it is Friday and the day to answer five questions quickly. Kathrynzj asks us:
This Friday Five will post while I'm at the beach which for me is more than a vacation destination, it is a trip home. I have found it quite easy to wax nostalgic about the places I used to live (well, except for one) and have begun to wonder what it is I like about the place I'm living now? For instance I sure do love the beach, but this picture was taken about 30 minutes away from my house - not too shabby!

And so I ask you to please name five things you like about where you are living now... and as your bonus - 1 thing you don't like.

My first reaction was I just did this and in some ways I did write about this topic as I am leaving my current call. As I prepared to leave, I reflected on my time and how it wasn't all bad. The community is depressed so I wrote a column in the local paper about the Top Ten things I will miss about Connersville.

So in theory, this should be easy for me to do.

1. The People ~~ we live in a friendly area where people know one another and keep in touch. There are too many people to list, but we are fortunate to have a good group of people around us that love our children and have "adopted" them as part of their family.

2. Our home ~~ we managed to buy our dream home in many ways and honestly I can't imagine a better home anywhere else. We live on 3 acres in town but are in the woods. It's the best of both worlds.

3. Close but far away ~~ we are close to Indy, Cincy and Dayton (about an hour to each) and yet we are far enough away that we are rural that we feel safe. We can easily get to the zoo, the museums, airports, shopping malls and yet be tucked away in our small town.

4. Stores ~~ while we are a small town, we have a few places that we love to go Kunkel's Drive-In for great food and Brian's Bookstore and Coffeehouse for wonderful desserts

5. Schools ~~ my children have been blessed to be in a school that they love. The teachers and staff are wonderful and KNOW my children even when they haven't been in that class yet. How many 6th grade teachers know 3rd graders? I have the teacher, principal, bus driver and aide all in my cellphone when I think there is a problem.

BONUS: I dislike the inability of people to change AND the skepticism of women in ministry

I enjoyed reading your post and trying to guess where you might be talking about. I lived in Dayton for 6+ years and that's where I left my own dream house. Many blessings in your new setting!

Fayette County in Indiana which is on the border with Ohio about 20 minutes south of I-70

We are headed to NJ so it will be a different place, but hopefully one full of blessings
